The publication date of this issue of The Southern Cross coincides with my sister’s birthday. She turns 70 this year and will probably do me grievous bodily harm for making this milestone public.

On a cool Sunday afternoon at Nairobi’s Uhuru Park, thousands of worshippers have gathered for a well-publicised open-air evangelical service, or crusade, by a popular city preacher. Peta Barlow (“Failed loyalty”, June 17-23) conflates dissent and disloyalty. This equation is false. It seems to be a widely held view in our Church.
