Feminism takes many forms
In her letter “Feminism is anti-women”, Dolores S Steenhuis maintains that feminism has been a negative influence for society and has had detrimental effects on women. The principle of feminism is the full humanity of women, a principle which the Catholic Church has not supported in theory or in fact.

Feed the multitudes
In the gospels we read about Jesus’ response when, on two occasions, he was faced with crowds of people he knew to be hungry. Something needed to be done, and Jesus performed the miracles of the feeding of the multitudes. Whether he literally multiplied the meagre offerings or persuaded those who had food to share it communally, as some Scripture scholars say, Jesus saw a need and responded to it.

Ecumenism: The pitfalls

Today we see a huge, admirable amount of efforts invested in the promotion of both cooperation and unity among Christians. In order to bring these efforts to fruition there is need to reshape our approach to the whole issue of ecumenism in our mentality and action, particularly in striking a balance between doctrinal discussions and daily life. There are also false, popular ideas to face that only do disservice to this cause.

Some people spend many a happy hour delving into the devious minds of serial criminals. Others devote lifetimes to trying to discover what makes successful businessmen tick. A few people have even tried to fathom the mind of politicians; but there is no recorded evidence that any of them got past square one before being institutionalised.

Two Very Practical Questions
The new arrangement enabling Traditional Anglicans to come into full communion with the Catholic Church raises two interesting questions.
Firstly, will the clergy of this group need to be re-ordained? Secondly, could a young Catholic man who wished to be a married priest now join the Traditional Anglican group and seek married ordination within it?
Peace the prize
The award of the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Barack Obama has been greeted with some bemusement, not least by the recipient himself. The truth is that Mr Obama has yet to earn his peacemaking stripes.
