Growing up in the 1960s, I used to complain that my brothers were allowed to serve the priest on the altar but I was not, because I was “female”. Now, in my parish, most of the servers are girls. When and why did this major break with the past occur? – AC

Defend your Church

As we move into 2011 many people will be following the age-old tradition of making New Year’s resolutions. Perhaps the most appropriate resolution that Catholics could make for the coming year is to start defending our Church against those, particularly in the mass media, who see Catholicism as an easy target.

Do we have to believe in Marian apparitions?
