Croatian Soccer Player Dedicates World Cup Medal to St Anthony of Padua

This Croatian soccer player dedicated his silver medal to St. Anthony of Padua. Mateo Kovacic wore a banner of the saint when he received his medal at the World Cup. St. Anthony is the patron of Kovacic’s home parish in Croatia. Kovacic was an altar server at the parish and met his wife there. Kovacic often shares about his Catholic faith on social media. He posted this photo on Instagram after winning the semifinal game against England. He told journalists he prays before all his games for strength and inspiration.
