New Bishop to Sample Local Potjiekos Skills!
Cape Town’s recently ordained auxiliary bishop will have the opportunity to test his new diocese’s potkjiekos-cooking skills on Heritage Day.
Bishop Sylvester David has confirmed his attendance at the Two Saints Soccer and Potjiekos Tournament hosted by St John’s parish in Fish Hoek on September 24.
The event will also have an ecumenical flavour as Anglican Father Andrew Holmes and members of his neighbouring parish will join in the fun.
Fr Holmes and his community also took part in the St John’s Palm Sunday procession this year.
The 5-a-Side tournament includes soccer teams from various parishes in the archdiocese of Cape Town. Players of all ages and genders are welcome.
The Two Saints Soccer and Potjiekos Tournament will be held at Bay Primary School, Fish Hoek. Matches will start at 10:00 and continue until early afternoon. Fires are lit from 8:30 with judging around 12:30.
Parishes that would like to take part in the football tournament may contact Paul Kilfoil at paulkilfoil@gmail.com, Peter Imrie at peter.imrie@gmail.com, or Magda Kus at southafrican2@iafrica.com
