Pope Francis receives Kiko Argüello, initiator of the Neocatechumenal Way
By Pietro Poggiali – Pope Francis received the International Team responsible for the Neocatechumenal Way: the initiator Kiko Argüello, Father Mario Pezzi and Ms Ascension Romero in a private audience on Jan 27.
During the audience, the Team informed the Holy Father of the International Convivence of Itinerants, which had just concluded, with more than 1000 people, leaders of the 136 nations where the Neocatechumenal Way is present, as well as the Rectors of the 120 Redemptoris Mater Missionary Diocesan Seminaries.
Kiko told Pope Francis of experiencing deep communion during the meeting and having seen, through the experiences of the itinerants, the power of the Holy Spirit at work in so many who were far from the Church and who are now happy to have found the love of God in Jesus Christ.
During the conversation, the Holy Father remembered the Servant of God Carmen Hernandez. He thanked and encouraged the Team to continue the work of evangelisation throughout the world together with the Redemptoris Mater Seminaries.
In the same international meeting, Dino and Roberta Furgione with Fr Lorenzo Ricci have been re-elected as leaders for the Neocatechumenal Way of Southern Africa.
