Apostolic Nuncio Presents Credentials to Lesotho’s King Letsie III
Archbishop Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski, the Apostolic Nuncio of South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Namibia and eSwatini presented his credentials to Lesotho’s King Letsie III. The ceremony took place in Maseru, the nation’s capital on October 10, 2024.
Archbishop Jagodzinski was appointed apostolic nuncio in this region by Pope Francis on 16 April in this year. The Polish prelate had been serving as the Apostolic Nuncio in Ghana when the announcement was made public. He had previously served in the Pontifical Representations in Belorussia, in Croatia, at the Section for Relations with the States of the Secretariate of State, at the Apostolic Nunciature in India, and in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Initially, he was appointed as Apostolic Nuncio to South Africa and Lesotho. On July 18 the Apostolic Nunciature announced the extension of its diplomatic relations to also include Namibia and Eswatini. On August 20 the extension was made to include Botswana too.
