Maria Mater Ecclesiae Parish Commences Jubilee Year 2025
On the fourth Sunday of Lent, the Maria Mater Ecclesiae parish in Garankuwa, part of the Archdiocese of Pretoria, officially inaugurated the Jubilee Year 2025 under the theme: “Pilgrims of Hope”.
Approximately 500 meters from the church, the congregation gathered for a procession led by parish priest Fr Harrison Mulenga, who blessed the Jubilee banner for the procession which was accompanied by drum majorettes heralding the Jubilee Year as a time of grace, blessings, and renewal for the entire parish community.
The parish choir uplifted the atmosphere with joyful songs, encouraging the congregation to dance and ululate in celebration.
The entrance to the church was adorned with balloons and vibrant ribbons. The priest took a moment to bless and explain the significance of the door, representing “Christ the Lord”, our Saviour and Redeemer.
The faithful entered the church to observe the blessing of water and the solemn singing of the litany of the Saints, as the community prayed for renewal and internal conversion. It marked a moment of spiritual rejuvenation for all present.
After the Mass, the parish community provided lunch for everyone, emphasising the importance of sharing a meal together as a symbol of unity and love within the family of Christ.
The launch of the Jubilee was a significant occasion for unity, reconciliation, and togetherness within the parish community.
