
By Diocese of Oudtshoorn – The Xhosa Pastoral Region, one of the pastoral regions within the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference, was established to serve the Xhosa-speaking Catholic communities in South Africa, particularly in the Eastern Cape.
Members of the Region gathered in Gqeberha, Diocese of Port Elizabeth, to discuss matters of integration of the Catholic faith with tradition, music and liturgy as well as evangelisation, catechesis and translation, which ensures accessibility and a deeper understanding of the faith for the isiXhosa-speaking Catholic faithful.

The Diocese of Aliwal North – Bishop Joseph Kizito
The Archdiocese of Cape Town – Archbishop Sithembele Sipuka
The Diocese of De Aar – Bishop Adam Musialek SCI
The Diocese of Kokstad – Bishop Thulani Mbuyisa CMM
The Diocese of Mthatha – Represented by the Diocesan Administrator, Bishop Mbuyisa CMM
The Diocese of Oudtshoorn – Bishop Noel Rucastle
The Diocese of Port Elizabeth – Bishop Vincent Zungu OFM
The Diocese of Queenstown – Bishop Siphiwo Vanqa SAC
Bishop Thulani Mbuyisa CMM acts as the interim chairperson until a new bishop for the Diocese of Mthatha has been appointed.
