Nelson Mandela gave 67 years of his life in the service of others.
At St Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, those 67 years hold a simple truth: every child deserves the care they need to heal, no matter their circumstances.
Right now, there’s a child in one of our beds who’s come through surgery, illness, or injury. She’s not ready to go home yet. Her body still needs to heal, to relearn things it used to know how to do, like eating a full meal on her own.
For more than 90 years, St Joseph’s has cared for children like her in Cape Town at no cost. Nutrition isn’t a side note here. It’s part of how she recovers.
This Mandela Day, we’re asking for R150.
It’s a small amount that goes a long way; it helps feed one of the approximately 300 children who pass through our care each year, giving them what their bodies need to heal and go home.
Every gift, every share, every conversation gets us closer to our goal by 18 July 2026.
Every child here deserves to find their way home. Thank you for helping make that happen.
