
On 29 September 2026, Fr Emmanuel Suntheni OSB successfully completed his Doctorate in Scientific History and Church History in Germany at the University of Munich (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München).
Fr Emmanuel Suntheni was born in Dedza, Malawi and hails from Dedza Diocese. He completed his secondary education at St Kizito Minor Seminary in Malawi. He later studied philosophy at Kachembere Major Seminary in Malawi before joining the novitiate at Inkamana Abbey in South Africa.
He also holds three other academic master’s degrees: a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management from DMI-St Eugene University, a master’s degree in Theology with a specialisation in Biblical Theology from Duquesne University, a licentiate in Theology majoring in Church History, and a doctorate in Theology.
