Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Reflection

For God so loved the world …
Time is like a single droplet of water within the vast ocean; time with a beginning and an end, time that is already accomplished and completed in the realm of eternity. This is the revelation of time not as an endless progression of more of the same, but as a creation of God that has a beginning and has an ending. This is the great mystical paradox of already, but not yet; this is the Eternal Now. It is in this eternal realm that God sought to create for God’s self, a person with a human heart; the person that we call Jesus. This is God’s plan, God’s blueprint and the DNA of creation.
At the Ascension, we as a church, celebrated Jesus return, Body, Soul, and Divinity into the Godhead of the eternal realm. A Trinitarian progression of love beating with the human heart. It is this human heart of God that bleeds into our time as the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ offers us the opportunity to unite ourselves, in the most intimate of ways; body within body within body; Jesus within us and within the source of love and that source of love within us and all creation. This union that we participate in, this union of the Body and Blood in a dynamic relationship of love, gives to us the doorway to divinity shared with divinity. This is what we have been made for; this is our true calling. This is our transcendent vocation to become fully that DNA breathed into us as God’s creation.
This calling within our hearts is also the emptiness of our hearts that are ever seeking this union, yearning for that love which endures beyond time into eternity. It is this emptiness and yearning that leads us to build such monuments as the beautiful Taj Mahal, the yearning that our love may be recalled beyond our passing from this life. We are intuitively aware that for our love to be true so as to satisfy our deepest hunger, it must in some way survive after our own fleeting lives; must in some way survive the limitations of this time.
Letting Go of the Illusion of Control
When we come together as God’s people, gathering together in praise and worship, in gratitude and thanksgiving, gathering together in the Mass, gathering together to participate in this intimate, dynamic union with the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, we experience a resonance within our own hearts also. This is that burning that we experience in the depths of our hearts, resonating with what is true, beautiful and good. Once we let go of our illusions of control and expectations, this is an experience that can convert and transform us in a single instant; this is God’s greatest gift to God’s children. All we can bring to this wonderful exchange is our presence and hunger. It is not something we can earn or ever deserve, neither is it a weapon or a tool of manipulation in the hands of any institution or human body.
The Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, coming to us out of the Eternal Now of yesterday, today and always; making the eternal Trinitarian circle of love present to us. For a moment light stands still to share itself with us. This is the most precious place of encounter, the place of forgiveness and healing; this is the place where our past hurts and disordered relationships are brought into the presence of that Eternal Now, transformed by God’s grace and redirected towards new beginnings. This is where the circle of transmitted suffering and disordered love is transformed and redirected.
Experience Peace
Jesus the Christ, the eternal Incarnated Word of God, tells us that this is the way, the only way to share in the Life of the Age and to share in Eternal Life. This is the message confirmed in the revelation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that reminds us of our intrinsic human dignity and our inheritance as children of God. This is a message of God’s burning human Heart of Love replacing the images of God as fiery wrath and vengeance. Our mimetic need for sacred victims and blood is replaced by the offering of God’s body and blood to replace all other sacrifices. This is a message confirmed by the revelation of Divine Mercy that humanity is good and greatly loved by God, and God generously offers Mercy to all.
It is only in the experience of this union offered in the Body and Blood of Christ that we can come to experience peace in our own hearts. It is only from an experience of peace in our own hearts that peace in the world will become possible. Each of us who share in this beautiful gift of the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ are called to be the bearers of Love, the bearers of Light and the bringers of Peace.
