Assumption of Our Lady Celebration in Lesotho

By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – The children of Mary Sodality and the Conception of Mary Immaculate Sodality in Lesotho commemorated the Assumption of the Blessed Mother into heaven by organising retreats across four dioceses, at different parishes. The retreats commenced on  August 15 and concluded on August 17, during which they welcomed aspirants to the Sodalities.

The deaneries of Our Lady of Victories, Fatima Ha Ramabanta, and Roma Parish conducted their retreat at Fatima Ha Ramabanta. This retreat was led by three priests: Fr Khahliso Moloi OMI, the Parish Priest of Fatima Ha Ramabanta, Fr Moeketsi Maqabe and Fr Clement Khobatha, the Parish Priest of St Joseph Parish and the chaplain of the Sodality in the Archdiocese of Maseru. The wonderful Children of Mary experienced a blessed and fulfilling retreat, culminating in the confirmation of 191 aspirants as full members of the Sodality.

The Archdiocese of Maseru’s Conception of Mary Immaculate Sodality held its retreat at the Cathedral of St Monica in the Leribe diocese.

In the diocese of Mohale’s Hoek, the children of the Mary Sodality conducted their retreat at St Patrick’s Cathedral, whereas the Conception of Mary Immaculate Sodality is scheduled to travel to Emmaus Parish on August 22, concluding their retreat on August 24.

The children of Mary from the diocese of Qacha’s Nek conducted their retreat at St Theresa Mashai, and their Conception of Mary Sodality will be collaborating with the diocese of Mohale’s Hoek at Emmaus Parish.

Lesotho is known as a country consecrated to Our Lady in 1865 and has a greater Catholic population than other religious denominations.
