Do We Know Why God Does Things We Don’t Understand?
By James Katende – There are moments in life when we are left speechless by circumstances. Loss. Injustice. Closed doors. Unanswered prayers. And in those moments, the human heart cries out, “Why, God?” We want answers. We want clarity. But often, heaven is silent.
The truth is, we won’t always know why God does what He does. But not knowing why doesn’t mean there isn’t a reason. God sees the whole picture—we only see a frame. He operates on a divine timeline, not a human one. His thoughts are higher, His ways are greater, and His timing is perfect.
In John 13:7, Jesus told Peter, “You do not realise now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” That is often how God moves. What confuses us now will make sense later. What feels like rejection now may actually be divine redirection. What looks like loss may end up being gain in a different form.
We don’t serve a God who needs to explain Himself; we serve a God who asks us to trust Him. It’s not blind faith—it’s grounded faith. Faith built on His character, not just His actions. And when we can’t trace His hand, we choose to trust His heart.
So, now—we don’t always know why. But we know who God is. And that is enough. He is good. He is faithful. He is wise. And He does all things—even the unexplainable things—with purpose and love.
