Bishop John Tlhomola’s 10th Anniversary of Episcopal Ordination
By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – The bishop of Mohale’s Hoek, John Joale Tlhomola SCP, commemorated his 10th episcopal anniversary on August 30 at Christ the Priest Parish within the diocese of Mohale’s Hoek. This event, referred to as the mother of all celebrations, was organised by the Handmaid of Christ the Priest sisters.
The occasion was attended by numerous dignitaries, including His Majesty King Letsie III, Her Majesty Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso, Prince Seeiso, and Princess Maseeiso.
The Archbishop of Pretoria, Anthony Dabula Mpako, the Archbishop of Maseru, Tlali Gerard Lerotholi OMI, Bishop Emeritus of Leribe Augustine Bane OMI, and the chairperson of the Lesotho Catholic Bishops Conference, Mopeli Joseph Sephamola OMI of Qacha’s Nek diocese, were also present. Additionally, representatives from the Lesotho Defence Force, Lesotho Mounted Police Service, Lesotho Correctional Services, National Services, civil servants, teachers, and members of the deaf community attended, underscoring the diocese’s commitment to inclusivity.
In his keynote address, King Letsie III commended Bishop Tlhomola as a close associate whose humility exemplifies the spirit of the alter-Christus mystery in his service. His Majesty expressed his prayerful hope that, when deemed appropriate by the Holy Spirit, the Holy Father may select a man of Bishop Tlhomola’s character and qualities for the position of Cardinal within the Lesotho Catholic Bishops Conference.
Both guests and attendees conveyed their best wishes to Bishop Tlhomola.
Bishop Tlhomola was born on March 12, 1966, at Pulane Ha Mosiuoa in the Archdiocese of Maseru. He made his perpetual vows in 1995 as a Servant of Christ the Priest and was ordained a Priest on March 28, 1998. He was appointed as Superior General in 2011 and was elected as the Bishop of Mohale’s Hoek on February 11, 2014, being ordained on May 10 2014, with the late Sebastian Cardinal Khoarai OMI serving as the principal consecrator.
We extend our best wishes for a happy life to the son of Fr Andre Blais, founder of the Servants of Christ the Priest.
