St Benedict School will celebrate 70 years in 2026
By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – St Benedict School in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, is celebrating its 70th anniversary next year.
Dr Barbara Bowley, the Principal of St Benedict School, gives insight into their success as a Catholic school still upholding the values of the sisters of Precious Blood, who founded the school in 1956 as part of the integral human development of the Church.
“St Benedict School – A place that truly cares for your children. Established in 1956 by the Sisters of the Precious Blood, St Benedict School proudly upholds the enduring values of faith, care, and kindness. St Benedict School has fostered a strong sense of family since its founding — creating an environment where everyone is welcomed, respected, and valued. The school is a distinguished member of ISASA and provides education from Grade RRR to Grade 12, where students undertake the IEB examinations.
Guided by our motto, ‘To Taste Wisdom,’ we encourage our students to develop into compassionate, confident, and capable young leaders—equipped to think critically, act with integrity, and collaborate within our vibrant rainbow nation.
In 2026, the year of our school’s 70th anniversary, we will be opening a Foundation Phase Remedial Unit to accommodate children who are experiencing learning difficulties. Our experienced and caring teachers will work to help fill the gaps, piece by piece, with the goal of helping your child to confidently return to mainstream education.”
