Our Obedience to the Will of God
James Katende – Doing the will of God sounds glorious until it costs us something. Until it disrupts our comfort, challenges our pride, or asks us to trust when nothing makes sense. And yet, it is in these difficult places that the will of God becomes not only a calling—but a testimony.
Obedience isn’t measured by how easy the command is—but by how willing the heart is. Jesus Himself prayed in Gethsemane, “Father, if it be Your will, take this cup from me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.” He felt the weight, the fear, the sorrow—but He still said yes. And His obedience in pain led to the salvation of the world.
The will of God is rarely the easiest path, but it is always the best one. It may lead you through the wilderness before it brings you to the promise. It may separate you from what’s familiar. It may ask you to forgive what feels unforgivable, to give when it hurts, to stay when it’s easier to walk away.
But when you follow the will of God, you never walk alone. His grace will carry what your strength cannot. His Spirit will empower what your flesh resists. And His reward will be far greater than the sacrifice. Obedience in hard times becomes the seed for breakthrough, blessing, and deeper intimacy with God.
So even when it’s hard, say yes. Even when it’s unclear, move forward in faith. Even when the cost feels high, trust that God’s will is worth it. Every time.
