Prayer for the New Year

By James Katende – 2026 is a year to seek God first in every decision, relationship, and assignment.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of a new year. We enter  2026 with gratitude, acknowledging that You have carried us through every season. We surrender this year into Your hands and ask that Your will be done in our lives, our families, and our communities.

Lord,  we pray for alignment. Align our hearts with Your truth, our thoughts with Your wisdom, and our steps with Your purpose. Remove every distraction that pulls us away from what matters most, and give us clarity to choose what honours You.

We pray for renewal. Restore our strength where we are weary, renew our hope where disappointment tried to settle, and refresh our faith where waiting became difficult.  Let this be a year where joy is revived and peace becomes our foundation.

Father, we ask for guidance throughout 2026. Lead us in our decisions, cover us in our going out and coming in, and protect us from paths that are not meant for us. Grant us discernment to recognise open doors and wisdom to wait when necessary.

We commit our plans, dreams, and responsibilities to You. Bless the work of our hands, strengthen our relationships, and help us grow in love, patience,  and humility. May this year draw us closer to You and make our lives a reflection of Your grace. Amen
