New Inter-Diocesan Spiritual Advisor for St Anne Sodality
Fr Malusi Zacca, who has been appointed the new interdiocesan spiritual advisor for St Anne Sodality
By Thabile Mbhele – Father Malusi Zaca has been appointed as the new interdiocesan spiritual advisor of St Anne sodality for South Africa, Botswana and Swaziland.
The announcement was made by Archbishop of Durban Mandla Jwara CMM in the presence of thousands of St Anne members at the Siyonqamlezweni Pilgrimage in Entshongweni, west of Durban, on March 21. Father Malusi Zaca has been the spiritual advisor for St Anne’s Sodality in the Archdiocese of Durban for eight years.
The announcement was received with mixed reactions as some St Anne mothers were sad that Fr Zaca was leaving, while others were joyful for him to be elevated to this position. Responding to his new appointment, Fr Zaca says “I had mixed feelings, wondering if I am the right person for this huge responsibility or not. I am also humbled by the faith my leaders have in me, but I’m also anxious about what lies ahead”.
Fr Zaca says he took time to reflect on his journey with St Anne thus far, remembering that he was first introduced to St Anne at baptism, during a Mass dedicated to St Anne. His late mother was an active member of St Anne’s Sodality, who instilled the Catholic faith in him. He also highlighted that he was born in July, a month dedicated to St Anne and Joachim.
Fr Zaca asked St Anne’s mothers for prayers as he embarks on this new ministry and gave credit to St Anne’s mothers in the Archdiocese of Durban for loving, supporting him and teaching him more about St Anne during the past eight years.
