The power of prayer is endless
Chris Moerdyk’s column “Churches’ quest: to capture young minds and hearts” refers.
I too once challenged my son’s teacher to make her lessons as captivating as the television programmes he watched. Back then, television was the culprit for lack of interest in learning and even religion. Then came TV and computer games. Now SMS and Mxit holds the youths’ attention, contributing to poor literacy.
Chocolate and sweet manufacturers have also accused cellphones for their decline in sales. It is all about great worldly advertising. We’ve allowed the Adman to capture our children!
Any form of learning, scholastic or religious, requires discipline, no matter how entertaining or interestingly you dress it. It is something that has to be developed.
As Fr Nicholas King said in his scripture reflections: “The Spirit’s function is to guide [them] into all truth”. As Chris says, it is our responsibility to pray. Prayer is the most powerful tool in the universe, and is freely at our disposal.
