4 October 1987 – Pope runs journalists ragged – 1987
Los Angeles – Pope John Paul ran an army of journalists ragged as he raced across the United States from September 10 – 20, but remained seemingly oblivious to the gruelling pace he set. Although he got no more than six hours of sleep a night, skipped some meals and ran a schedule which did not allow for afternoon naps, he once again showed his now legendary powers of stamina during the 30 000km tour.
