Fr Sibahle Mthembu OMI Ordained!

OMISA celebrated with great joy the ordination of Fr Sibahle Cornelius Mthembu by Archbishop Abel Gabuza, co-adjutor archbishop of Durban. The ordination was held at Fr Sibahle’s home parish, Umndeni Oyingcwle in Mpumalanga, Hammarsdale in KZN.
Strict Covid-19 protocols were observed with the Church less than 50% full. The choir sang magnificently, accompanied by a very talented organist. 30 priests were in attendance. Despite the many challenges of the time, the parish, under the leadership of the parish priest, Fr Mbheki Ngcobo had been generous with the celebration.
The Archbishop was very fatherly and challenging in his homily calling the new priest, and indirectly all priests, to the integrity, maturity and holiness that is required of the priesthood.
A number of vocations had come from this parish in recent years. The Provincial, Fr Neil Frank thanked the parish for their deep faith and their closeness to the Oblates which nurtures these vocations.
Fr Sibahle Mthembu had received his First Obedience to OMISA and has been appointed as an Assistant Priest at St John, Estcourt from 1 November 2020.
Praised be Jesus Christ and Mary Immaculate!
