The memorial service for Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane will be held on Thursday 16 February at Sacred Heart College in Johannesburg. The service will start at 17:00. The Motsoane family are parishioners of the Sacred Heart Church in their hometown of Katlehong, in Johannesburg’s East Rand.
Motsoane was shot to death along with popular South African musician Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA. The two friends were shot outside the popular restaurant Wish on Friday night in Florida, Durban.
Motsoane, businessman, author and chef, completed both his primary and high schooling at Sacred Heart College. He became AKA’s first music manager when the popular rap artist broke into the South African music scene.
Forbes attended his early primary schooling at Holy Cross Convent School in Brooklyn in Cape Town, and matriculated at St John’s College in Johannesburg.
In a statement released on Saturday, his family expressed gratitude for the support they had received from the public. “To us, Tebello was a son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend. Our son was loved and he gave love in return. As we come to terms with the fact that he’s no longer with us, we appeal for your compassion, space and time to reflect on the matter and decide on the way forward as a family.
We thank you for the love and the support we have received and ask you to lift us in prayer before the Lord,” the statement read.
“They shared an unbreakable bond, and were together till the very end,” a close friend of the two posted on social media in a tribute to both. The motive for the pair’s untimely demise remains unknown.
