Cardinal-elect Stephen Brislin and The Southern Cross!

Cardinal-elect Stephen Brislin receives the September issue of The Southern Cross magazine with himself on the cover. Archbishop Brislin and 20 other cardinal-elects will receive the red hat from Pope Francis at a consistory at the Vatican on September 30.

The cardinal-elect said he is comforted by the fact that members of his family and friends will be in Rome to attend the consistory. He will feel their support there, explaining that it is also his first consistory — the name given to official meetings of cardinals.

Cardinal-elect Brislin, who has led four pilgrimages for The Southern Cross, is interviewed by editor Günther Simmermacher in the September issue of the magazine. In the interview, he talks about his vocation, pilgrimages, his hobbies, and whether he thinks about the possibility that as a cardinal he could be elected pope, among many other things.
