Vocation Sunday Brunch at All Saints Cathedral, Diocese of Mthatha
By Sr Francis Ngiba SU – To promote vocations to religious life, the Ursuline Community in Mthatha hosted a Vocation Sunday Brunch with a group of young people at All Saints Cathedral, in Mthatha. The purpose of the brunch was not limited to promoting vocations only but also to narrow the gap of misunderstanding and break the stereotype about religious people. The main question was “How can we (religious) make religious life more appealing to the youth?”.

Religious life is a gift of the Holy Spirit, which is meant to be used through touching people’s lives. The Apostles after resurrection, knew that they had the mandate to spread the Good News. In spreading news about the risen Lord, they had to attract others too so that they would do the same. In other words, through spreading the Gospel, the Apostles promoted vocation to missionary life. Today, as the mission of spreading the Good News still stands, we have the duty to continue encouraging others to carry on this mission in the best possible ways.
We believe that the programme helped our young people to understand the importance of taking part in the mission of spreading the Good News.
The Ursuline Family is grateful to these young people who actively participated in the programme and helped us celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday in a more meaningful way.
