Fr Peter Chimombe Celebrates 28th Priestly anniversary
Fr Peter Chimombe of Zimbabwe celebrated his 28th Priestly anniversary on December 14.
A Southern Cross contributor, Fr Chimombe is one of four priests out of a group of 52 seminarians who remain as priests, including Fathers Joshua Nyoni (Hwange), Joachim Ngun’u (Gweru), and Donald Dodzo (Mutare).
Reflecting on his long journey in the ministry Fr Chimombe says: “In any vocation, there are two phases. Firstly there is the Galilean phase when one is full of enthusiasm and is raring to go. I had my moments in the sun of engaging with the people of God in pastoral work, studying for higher degrees and travelling around the world. The second phase is the Jerusalem phase where one is called again for the second time to go and suffer with the Lord in Jerusalem. It is in this phase that many will call it quits in the twilight years of their calling. Praise be to God I am still in the race”.
