Fr Lawrence Ndlovu Celebrates 10 Years of Priesthood
By Daluxolo Moloantoa – Poet-Priest Fr Lawrence Mduduzi Ndlovu commemorated a decade of priesthood at Cathedral of Christ the King in Johannesburg.
The milestone drew family members, close friends, and notable guests to honour the journey of the acclaimed poet-priest from Diepkloof, Soweto. Fr Ndlovu, known for blending spirituality with eloquent poetry, was previously featured on the cover of The Southern Cross in April 2021. The Southern Cross was one of the early amplifiers of his literary voice, having published his introspective and insightful writings as early as 2018.
In addition to his ministry, Fr Ndlovu has authored and published three works of poetry, titled Mayibuye: 25 Years of Democracy in South Africa, In Quiet Realm and Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, and they were all released by African Perspectives Publishing. Quiet Realm was a special collaboration with the late Lindiwe Mabuza, a fellow Catholic, celebrated poet, and former South African High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Fr Ndlovu completed his university studies in London, UK, an experience that deeply shaped his theological and literary voice.
The tenth anniversary celebration was a heartfelt affair, attended by well-known figures including Radio Veritas presenter Thabile Mbhele and Newzroom Afrika correspondent Linda Mnisi, who recently reported both the passing of Pope Francis and the election of Pope Leo VXI from Rome. Speaking on the occasion, Fr Ndlovu reflected: “I really feel a great sense of gratitude. Every day I am in awe at the privilege of serving at the Lord’s altar.”
Fr Ndlovu`s books are available from African Perspectives Publishing. Please contact Rose Francis at 082 745 7509.
