Bishop of Leribe appoints Vicar-General and Diocesan Staff
By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – The newly appointed Bishop of Leribe, Sekhonyana Vitalis Marole OMI, has announced his appointments in the diocese at St Monica’s Cathedral.
Bishop Marole has designated Fr Felix Mahlatsi as his vicar general. Fr Mahlatsi has participated in various missions within the Church, including serving as the director of the Pontifical Mission Societies within the Lesotho Catholic Bishops Conference.
He has also appointed Fr Meshack Maine Phenethi as the Priest responsible for the education department in the diocese. Additionally, Fr Tholang Vitalis Lepheane, who is a lawyer by profession, has been assigned as the priest in charge of land within the diocese. Fr Mpaka Pholo has been named the new superior general of Mabathoana House, the Bishop’s residence in the diocese of Leribe. Fr Pholo will also oversee communication and reception, as well as the care of elderly and sick Priests in the diocese.
The Bishop has also selected several Priests as his consultants, which include the vicar general and the Priest in charge of land. These consultants are: Fr Luis Semenyane, Fr Letlotlo Mohlakola, Fr Nico Makhalemele, Fr Sylvester Mothibeli, Fr Xolile Galata, Fr Albert Koetlisi, a Canon law expert, and Fr Patrick Sehlabo, the secretary.
Fr Tseliso Tente OMI, who serves as the pre-novitiate master at Maryland, has been appointed as the chairperson of the religious council, with Sr Julia of the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa acting as his deputy. Within this council, Sr Agnes Motake has been nominated as the secretary general, with Fr Xolile Galata serving as her deputy. Other members of the council include Sr Augustine Lekeba of the Holy Family of Bordeaux Sisters, Sr Rose, and Sr Suzan.
Additionally, the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace at the diocesan level has been established, comprising Mr Clement Molupe, Br Charles Mofolisi, Mrs Marorisang Mphongoa, and Mr Motseki Tanki.
These committees are expected to serve for three years in the diocese. We pray for their selfless love in the development of Leribe diocese.
