St Francis of Assisi, Rust-ter-Vaal Women’s Day Celebration
Submitted by Elaine Prosper, Photos by Pamela and Kayleen Osler – St Francis of Assisi in Rust-Ter-Vaal, Vereeniging, hosted a Women’s Day celebration under the theme “Straighten Your Crown.” It was a beautiful event filled with spirit, sisterhood and Divine inspiration.
The day began with uplifting Praise and Worship, setting a sacred atmosphere of unity and joy. This was followed by a powerful reflection on empowering women and embracing the vital role we play within the Church and our communities. Attendees were reminded of their God-given strength, dignity and purpose, which then allowed small group sharing with key themes presented for all to learn from each other.
There were lucky draws throughout the event, with the excitement of having names called out and winning a prize. Each attendee was also blessed with a gift.
A moving moment of symbolism was presented during the message of “He Reigns” — representing how God’s armour of protection covers us even as we navigate life’s storms. Coupled with the analogy of when it rains and an umbrella shields us, it served as a vivid reminder that God Almighty’s presence reigns over us, shielding and strengthening us through every challenge.
There was also a time of prayer and ‘standing in the gap’ for those within families and communities, regarding whatever concerns or issues they may face. “I just want to speak the name of Jesus” by Charity Gayle, was relevant as a prayerful song which all joined in singing.
Rosary was led by Fr Arun D’Mello, a time to reflect on the Joyful Mysteries and to give reverence to our Beloved Mother Mary, as Queen of Heaven and our role model to lead, guide and protect us.
Attendees were also treated to live music, which led to dancing to end the afternoon.
It was a truly blessed event, a celebration of faith, femininity and the unshakeable crown that each woman wears as a daughter of the King – Praise You Lord Jesus!
