Twenty-Six Candidates Walk in the Light at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Mmakau
By Daluxolo Moloantoa – Most Holy Redeemer Church in Mmakau, northwest of Pretoria, celebrated a heartfelt Sacrament of Confirmation ceremony on Sunday, December 7. The event was presided over by Archbishop Dabula Mpako of Pretoria.
The event brought together three parishes, namely the Most Holy Redeemer Church, St John the Baptist Church, and St Paul Church. A total of 26 candidates from these parishes received the Sacrament.
Choosing God Every Day
In his homily, Archbishop Mpako highlighted Confirmation as a lifelong commitment. He encouraged the candidates to choose God over the world, not just in moments of crisis or on Sundays, but every morning when they wake.
“Confirmation is not a one-time event. It is a promise to live by faith, every day, every morning we open our eyes,” he said.
To symbolise this commitment, the Archbishop invited the twenty-six candidates to line up at the front of the church. Together with their families and parishioners from all three churches, they sang the hymn “Walk in the Light”, creating a moving moment of unity, devotion, and celebration.
In this season of Advent, the ceremony reminded everyone to walk daily in the Light of Christ.
