What Happened at National Prayer Day?

Catholics have hailed the National Day of Prayer for South Africa at Soccer City (or FNB Stadium) in Johannesburg, with the bishops’ communication officer saying the event was a clear sign that God comes first in the lives of many people.

An October e-mail was received from a South African charter pilot to the Central African Republic. He flies for global humanitarian organisations who “help the locals tremendously. The aircraft getting these supplies out to the people are the lifeblood of the country — without them they would have nothing. We are almost their only hope.”

Bidding Prayer Against Abortion

Our nation’s hospitals daily terminate the lives of many unborn infants by legalised abortion on demand. I thus respectfully ask our Catholic bishops to direct that the following prayer, or something similar, be made one of our Sunday Masses’ bidding prayers once a month
