Where is the prophetic leadership in Zimbabwe?
Our neighbour Zimbabwe appears to be in its real death throes. The health and education systems have collapsed; cholera is raging; people are starving. Inflation is beyond computation.
Where is the voice of prophetic leadership? Church leaders appear to be silent. Do any bishops, priests, religious, lay leaders have enough courage to lead the people and demand that Mugabe and his cronies go? Are there even ten courageous church leaders in the country? Do they not care that the people are dying?
Yes, if people gather in their hundreds or thousands in protest, some will die. But not all will die. Remember East Germany in 1989.
In the future, will history judge church leaders at the time of Zimbabwe’s extreme crisis to be silent cowards?
