Ethiopian and Eritrean Catholic Community Leaders Meeting and Executive Committee Election

Ethiopian and Eritrean Catholic Community Leaders met on October 17 at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Yeoville, Archdiocese of Johannesburg, led by Community Chaplain Fr Joseph Yakob Guduno OFMCap and facilitated by community national coordinator Evangelist Hailu Adalo.

Group Leaders came from various Diocesan areas: Bethal in Dundee Diocese, Mahikeng in Kimberley Diocese, Tembisa in the Archdiocese of Pretoria and areas in the Archdiocese of Johannesburg.

During the gathering, four issues were discussed: 

1/ Opening Prayer and Closing blessings by Fr Joseph

2/Previous executive committee report

3/Pastoral Leadership, Biblical and Church rule by the Community Coordinator using his life experience and Catholic Teaching.

4/Five Executive Committee Elections

Their Names are as follows:

1. Mr Markose Assefa from Johannesburg

2. Mr Alemu Kabeto from Bethal

3. Mr Damise Lambaso from Tembisa

4. Youth Leader Tesfaye Haile from Tembisa

5. Mr Yohannes Chufamo from Soweto

At the end of the gathering, participants shared their thanksgiving and appreciation for their previous leaders for their Pastoral efforts including the Community Chaplain and Coordinator.
