CorpsAfrica Invites Applications for 2025 Volunteer Programme in South Africa
CorpsAfrica, a pan-African non-profit, is inviting applications for its volunteer programme in South Africa. Founded in 2011 by former Peace Corps volunteer Liz Fanning, CorpsAfrica recruits and trains educated African youth as volunteers to live and work in rural, under-resourced communities in their own countries.
CorpsAfrica is set to induct its inaugural group of volunteers in South Africa beginning in November.
Since its inception, CorpsAfrica has established a presence in ten countries, including Morocco, Senegal, Malawi, and Rwanda. The organisation has trained and deployed over 900 volunteers who have successfully implemented more than 800 community-driven projects, impacting the lives of thousands of people.
“Our entry into South Africa is a testament to the incredible growth and impact CorpsAfrica has achieved over the years,” said Kelo Kubu, country director for South Africa. “We are excited to bring this transformative program to South Africa, where we believe our volunteers will make a meaningful difference in the lives of communities. Volunteers can look forward to a unique and enriching experience, one that will not only develop their professional and personal skills but also create lasting, positive change.”
Volunteers serve for one year and facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects identified by local community members to fulfil key needs.
Selected Volunteers will undergo comprehensive training before being deployed to rural and underserved communities across the country. They will work on a variety of projects tailored to the needs of these communities, focusing on areas such as education, health, agriculture, and economic development.
“Volunteering with CorpsAfrica offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference while gaining invaluable experience and insights,” Kubu said. “We are looking for individuals who are committed to service, eager to learn, and ready to be part of a movement that is driving change from within Africa.”
Applications for the next cohort will close on August 18, 2024. Interested candidates can apply through the CorpsAfrica website at www.corpsafrica.org/where-we-work/south-africa/
