St Joseph Sodality in Swaziland Celebrates Feast Day
St Joseph Sodality celebrated the feast of St Joseph at St Peter and Paul Parish, Kwaluseni in Swaziland, a mission overseen by the Consolata priests, where they welcomed several new members into the Sodality and confirmed nine people. The Manzini St Joseph Sodality also donated a statue of St Joseph to St Peter and Paul Parish, which was blessed and installed on the same day.
Fr Peterson Mwangi, the parish priest, has a profound commitment to the elderly, prompting the Sodality to spend the day with around 40 senior citizens from the local community. They also reached out to the Deputy Prime Minister’s office to arrange a presentation aimed at raising awareness about elderly care. Ms Bahlalisile Tsabedze was sent by the ministry to provide this information.
Members of the Sodality distributed donations to the elderly, providing each individual with a food hamper and a warm blanket. Chaplain Fr Sandile Mswane, elaborated on the theme of the Feast: St Joseph, the husband of Mary. He emphasised the significance of women in society, drawing from the vital role of the Virgin Mary in God’s plan for humanity’s salvation.
The celebration was further enriched by the presence of the St Cecilia Sodality, a choir with which they have collaborated since the tenure of Sodality President Maduduza Zwane. The Zwane family inspired the gathering with a speech delivered by Binda Zwane, son of ntate Zwane. Overall, it was a remarkable celebration, and the members of the Sodality received substantial support from St Peter and Paul Parish.
St Joseph Sodality celebrates the Feast Day of St Joseph annually. In 2023, they visited St John Bosco Parish, where they spent the day with street children from Malkerns. Last year, their celebration took place at St Juliana Convent alongside the local Religious Order.
