Legion of Mary Holds Rosary Tableau in Cape Town

Rosary Tableau at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Lansdowne, Cape Town, held by the Legion of Mary
By Ann Van Niekerk – In celebration of October, the month of the Holy Rosary, the Legion of Mary in Cape Town held a Rosary Tableau at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Lansdowne, Cape Town, bringing together Legionaries from across the Cape Peninsula to pray and reflect as one Marian family.
“We gathered at the beautiful statue of Our Lady outside the church to begin our prayer,” said Ann van Niekerk of the Kraaifontein praesidium. “It was amazing, blessed, and truly joyous to see so many Legionaries united in love for Our Lady and her Son.”
A Rosary Tableau is a live or visual representation of the mysteries from the lives of Jesus and Mary, designed to aid meditation during the Rosary. Each participating praesidium chose a mystery to portray, using costumes and props to bring the scenes to life.
“It was inspiring to see what everyone came up with — the creativity, the reverence, and the attention to detail,” Van Niekerk said. “Walking from one mystery to the next, praying and singing together, deepened our reflection and sense of community.”
The celebration concluded with the traditional Legion prayers and a final hymn. “It was a truly memorable day,” Van Niekerk said. “An experience that will stay with us for a long time.”
