New Committee Elected for St Joseph Sodality, Klerksdorp

St Joseph Sodality, Klerksdorp

By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – The St Joseph Sodality within the diocese of Klerksdorp convened its diocesan elective conference on Saturday, October 4th, in their diocese.  The highly anticipated conference was initially scheduled for July of this year; however, it was postponed to the current date due to unforeseen circumstances.

This Sodality, which has been established in the diocese for 42 years, mourned the loss of their former chaplain, the late Fr Adrian Lelimo, in 2022. He was succeeded by interim chaplain Fr  Retselisitsoe Sehlabo until  Deacon Paul Sepheakhang was appointed as the new chaplain by the  Bishop of Klerksdorp Victor Hlolo Phalana.

Most of the committee members were replaced with a new committee, with the exception of one member who has been appointed as deputy secretary general.

Bishop Phalana attended the elective conference and oversaw the elections.

According to the new deputy secretary general, who also served on the previous committee that lasted three years, the elections were conducted smoothly, and the new committee is composed of the following members: President: Mr Jokos  Thibile, Deputy President: Mr Tshidiso Manyaapelo, Secretary General: Mr  Lerato Shumba, Deputy Secretary General: Mr Mohale Modise, and  Treasurer General: Mr Harry Mothea.

These members are expected to serve the St Joseph Sodality in the diocese of Klerksdorp for the next three years, after which they will hold another elective conference.

The St Joseph Sodality of Klerksdorp played a crucial role in the establishment of the St Joseph Sodality in Lesotho during the presidency of Mr Tsholo and the chaplaincy of the late Fr Adrian Lelimo. Furthermore,  the St Joseph Sodality in Klerksdorp is affiliated with the  InterDiocesan Conference of SACBC and is part of the Johannesburg  Metropolitan area.
