Marist Brothers Linmeyer has announced that Fr Deneys Williamson has been appointed as the new school Chaplain as of January 1, 2026. He is well known amongst our school community as he is currently the parish priest of St John Paul II in Linmeyer, JHB.

Fr Deneys was born in Johannesburg in 1986 to a Catholic family. He is the eldest of three siblings and attended St David’s Marist Inanda. After obtaining a degree in Liberal Arts and working as a teacher at St Benedict’s College, he felt called by God to serve as a priest for the church of Johannesburg. He subsequently entered the seminary and completed theological studies in Rome, graduating with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Theology. He was ordained a priest in 2016 and was first assigned as curate at St John Apostle parish in Florida Park, Roodepoort, before being appointed as the parish priest of St John Paul II.

His other ministerial roles have been involved in the process of beatification and canonisation of the couple Danny and Domitilla Hyams, who could become the first married saints in South Africa. Furthermore, he is a lecturer in Theology at the National Seminary, St John Vianney Seminary.
