Advice for the Young in Anguish
Stephen Mokoena, Oudendaalrus – Let’s remember all young people who are about to give up in life. Their pain becomes my pain, just as their hopes become my hope.
Sometimes when we feel like life is pulling us down and we feel like we can’t take it anymore, we must know that it’s okay to feel like this.
We Are Not Alone
We should always remember that we are not alone. When friends, families and colleagues are turning away from us, we can take a deep breath and lock ourselves in our rooms and cry, because tears clean the windows of our hearts.
It’s never too late to go out and talk to someone.
When we are fighting the hardest battle, we must remember that this will pass, too, and everything will be okay. We have to go through the storm to see the rainbow. We must accept the disappointments in life but we must never lose hope.
Whatever we are going through in life, let that become a daily source for our faith and hope in God. No matter what comes in life, even if it is painful, we can always seek to find the blessings in that experience.
Three Steps for Depression
Distinguish between fact and feeling – Separate your feelings from the truth – Leave all your issues to God for now – you cant be objective about them even if you wanted to be – He can handle your life even when you cant.
Find a friend to remind you of the truth – Find someone who will say to you: Listen, here’s what is true – not correction or exhortation, just the facts…God loves you, he is with you and won’t let you go
Get out of your own head – Get up and walk or simply sit in the sunshine – just as long as your moving away from the black swirling in your head…
