Four Special Reasons for the Ursuline Sisters to Celebrate

By: Sr Margaret Mary Makuwerere (S.U): The 8th of December was a special day indeed for the Ursuline Sisters of The Blessed Virgin Mary (South African Province).
Firstly, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is one of the Society’s distinctive feasts, for Our Lady is the Patroness of the congregation. Secondly, it is the day of the renewal of vows for all professed sisters (final and temporary professed).
By God’s Grace, six young temporary professed sisters renewed their vows that very day, as a step towards making their final commitment to the Lord. Thirdly, it was a day to wind up an enriching, lively and joy-filled 8-day retreat based on the story of the Merciful Father (Luke 15:11-31), facilitated by Fr Thembalethu Mana.
Finally, it was an opportunity for the sisters to welcome their new parish priest Fr Eric Mokole who had just joined the community in Libode.
All was held at the Ursuline Provincial House in Libode. The day was filled with deep prayer and entertaining celebrations. In this time of advent, we continue to prepare ourselves joyfully for the coming of our Saviour.
