22 Salesian Cooperators renew their promise in Lesotho
By Fr Vaclav Klement – 22 Salesian Cooperators renewed their promise and attended animation meetings in Maseru, Ha Seleso and St Luke in Maputsoe, during the annual visit of Salesian AFM Provincial Councillors (Provincial Coordinator: Mr Chester Browne, Treasurer: Mr Cedric Poley, Formator: Ms Kensani Machaba, Mr Vallery Mudambi) to the two local centres in Lesotho.
The Salesian promise: “to be a faithful disciple of Christ in the Catholic Church; to work for Your Kingdom, especially for the advancement and salvation of the young; to deepen and give witness to the Salesian Spirit; to collaborate, in Family communion, in the apostolic initiatives of the local Church” was renewed at Mass attended by hundreds of Catholic faithful.
Each Salesian Cooperator received a newly published book “Educating like Don Bosco”, as a new motivation to live their vocation and mission with the same heart of their founder, Saint John Bosco.
The AFM province with only five centres strives to open new centres in Johannesburg and especially in eSwatini, which, after 70 years of the Salesian presence has no Salesian Cooperators. The 2024 AFM provincial Congress is scheduled for October 2024 in Manzini, eSwatini, with this specific intention.
Salesian Cooperators are involved in education as teachers, catechists, and instructors or dedicate their time, energy and resources to young people in need.
