Confirmations Crystal Park Benoni
By Kati Dijane – On the third Sunday of Advent, known as Gaudete Sunday, 14 young people received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Mother Teresa of Calcutta in Crystal Park, Benoni, in the Archdiocese of Johannesburg.
Archbishop Buti Joseph Tlhagale was the main celebrant, with parish priest Fr Eugene Oguamanam CSSp, Fr Donné Randriamanana CSSp and Vincent Sello SCJ, from the Archdiocese of Pretoria. The Archbishop in his homily, invited the youth to be the heralds of the Gospel and become the messengers of Christ, as did the apostles after receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit in the upper room at Pentecost.
He said that mankind is created to see God, and hence that eternal longing stays in our hearts until we eventually see him at the end of our lives. The gift of the Holy Spirit are the spiritual qualities that make us continue building God’s kingdom of earth, and thus are invited to make this kingdom real, he added. He also urged the confirmands to work hard at school to build a brighter future for themselves. After Mass, the Archbishop blessed the recently built grotto at the parish.
