Little Eden has been awarded the Disability Rights Best Practice Award at the Gauteng Disability Rights Excellence Awards ceremony held in December. This prestigious recognition was presented by the Gauteng Office of the Premier and celebrates initiatives that go above and beyond in promoting and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities.
The award was presented to the Society for its Annual CEO Wheelchair Campaign®, a transformative advocacy initiative designed to promote understanding and empathy. Each March, during Intellectual Disability Awareness Month, CEOs and leaders from various industries spend a full workday in a wheelchair to encourage participants to gain deeper insight into the daily challenges faced by individuals living with disabilities, particularly those who rely on wheelchairs for mobility.
Speaking about the award, Little Eden Society CEO Ann Coetzee said: “We are humbled by this recognition and extend our gratitude to the Gauteng Office of the Premier. This award is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in advocating for disability rights. We remain committed to creating a society where every person, regardless of ability, is valued and included.” She encouraged CEOs and leaders from various industries to participate in this campaign for March 2025 and be a part of positive change.
