Lesotho Catholic Youth Movement (LCYM) pilgrimage
By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – The Lesotho Catholic Youth Movement (LCYM) from the Maria Mabasotho Pastoral Oblate Centre visited the residence of the elderly and sickly Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) at Lebreton House, Mazenod, within the Archdiocese of Maseru on January 11th. This visit was part of their planned activities for the years 2024-2025.
During their visit, the members extended their well wishes and blessings for the New Year to the elderly and ailing Oblates. They also presented gifts to the senior priests, including cleaning supplies aimed at maintaining a hygienic environment to safeguard their health.
Ms Patricia Motlomelo, a member of the Lesotho Catholic Youth Movement (LCYM) executive committee emphasised the importance of remembering those who have served them in their parishes. “We received the Holy Sacraments from these priests, who are now elderly and unwell; it is our responsibility to express our appreciation and gratitude for their selfless service,” she remarked.
Fr Moshoeshoe OMI, the director of the residence, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We hope to see you more frequently, as your presence brings joy to both the elderly priests and those of us who care for them.” The visit concluded at the Oblates’ cemetery, where they prayed and tidied the grave of the late Fr John Mphachane OMI, who had served as their spiritual director at Maria Mabasotho.
Ms Motlomelo concluded by expressing gratitude to the sodalities of Immaculate Conception, the Children of Mary, and the CLC for their contributions that made their pilgrimage successful, wishing them abundant blessings from God.
