1000 Hail Mary’s at Roma Ha MaJesu in Lesotho
By Bokang Tsoanamatsie – The Children of Mary Sodality, dedicated to promoting the recitation of 1000 Hail Marys in Lesotho have committed to visiting all ten districts of the nation of Lesotho to share this devotion across twelve parishes.
This initiative is intended to coincide with the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Basotho nation and is designed to culminate in the national festivities marking this significant milestone. In October 2024, the group paused their activities to engage in the diocesan Fatima pilgrimages, and the 1000 Hail Mary pilgrimage scheduled for February 7, 2025, at Roma Ha MaJesu marked their eleventh initiative, falling short of their original goal of twelve.
The pilgrimage on February 7, 2025, commenced with a Holy Mass officiated by Archbishop of Maseru Tlali Gerard Lerotholi OMI, alongside Fr Emmanuel Njezula OMI and Fr Mokete Talasi OMI, the Parish Priests. Following the recitation of the 1000 Hail Marys, Fr Meshack Maine Phenethi, the vicar general of the Bishop of Leribe, addressed the attendees. The Catholic community in Lesotho holds in high regard the selfless efforts of the Children of Mary in promoting the recitation of 1000 Hail Marys, accomplished without any external sponsorship
