In one of his columns, Fr Ron Rolheiser OMI mentions the reason for Jesus’ agony in the garden. He says that it was not easy for Jesus to link with a divine source outside himself in prayer. He then concludes that this was the reason for his agony in the Garden of Gethsemane.
I would have preferred Cardinal Wilfrid Napier as pope. We all have our predilections. Take note, however, that I never wrote that I find this pope unworthy. That is for God to decide.

A nod at the right to private property, followed by a dismissal of it is unfortunate. Church teaching regards the holding of private property as natural and positive. This is made clear in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and in Pope Leo XIII’s encyclical Rerum Novarum (1891).

It’s all about the attitude, the power of being positive. You can see, or perhaps experience it, in sport: you don’t score runs at cricket if you play defensively; you can’t win at rugby or soccer if you spend all your time defending your own line. It’s very difficult to win at tennis if you concentrate only on returning your opponent’s shots.
