Trusted Silence – Because Of You

CD REVIEW

Trusted Silence is one of those Christian rock bands whose lyrics tend to be open to interpretation. Read through Christian eyes, most of the lyrics testify to the quest for God–songs like “Breathe” and “Hope Again” are unambiguously songs of prayer.

So they are a bit like South Africa’s version of Lifehouse. Indeed, Trusted Silence frequently sound like Lifehouse (which is a good thing). While the band has a knack for strong melodies with anthemic choruses, there is a sense that they are holding something back; one wishes they would occasionally just let go and totally rock out.

Curiously, there is a solitary Afrikaans track on this fine album (which is pretty good).

Listen to: Shout It Loud, Breathe, Stand, Push, Wash Me Clean
