Your Chance to Help Improve Liturgical Music At Mass

Bishop Edward Risi, Keimoes-Upington – A sub-committee of the Liturgical Commission of the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SACBC) has been trying for a number of years to work at improving the quality of music and singing in the Mass.

Guidelines for new compositions in the Southern African scene have also been drawn up.

The subcommittee works with English liturgical music, but there are other contacts within the Liturgy Commission who are working with other language groups.

Anyone who is keen on joining this initiative or wishes to know more about it may contact me (at ) or Fr Rohan Smuts of the archdiocese of Cape Town (at ).

Now that we are getting somewhat on top of Covid-19, we are looking forward to pushing ahead with some of the initiatives that have been planned, especially workshopping liturgical music for parish choirs.
