St Benedict School: Praying for Peace, Almsgiving for Lent

In solidarity with Pope Francis’ Ash Wednesday Appeal for Prayers and Fasting dedicated towards the end of the conflict in Ukraine, the St Benedict School in Pinetown community in the Archdiocese of Durban carried in procession the Ukrainian Flag emblazoned with the dove of peace, as well as Ukraine’s National Flower together with the Word of God and the School Candle. These were presented at the sanctuary before the Holy Mass as we prayed for peace and unity in the region and throughout the world.

Food collected by the pupils is a new tradition for Ash Wednesday this year, and it is presented as a Lenten gift to the poor and needy.
