Ethiopian Catholic Family Thanksgiving Mass and Baptism

Teketele Dakayo and Kababush Addise were married on April 24 2016 at St Mary of the Angeles Bethal parish in the Diocese of Dundee and waited with prayer for the gift of a child. Baby boy Samuel was born on July 10 this year.
The Ethiopian Catholic Community came together with family and friends for a Thanksgiving Mass Celebration and the Sacrament of Baptism on October 8 in the same church the parents were married in 7 Years before.
The Mass and Baptism of the Child was celebrated by Ethiopian and Eritrean Catholic Community National Chaplain Fr Yoseph Guduno and welcomed by Parish Priest Fr Nkosinathi Sibiya.
All important Catechism classes for the child’s parents and God parent, Degefa Doboche, were conducted in their native Language Amharic by Community national Coordinator Evangelist Hailu Adalo.
In addition, Ethiopian Catholic Choirs from the Bethal area and the Archdiocese of Pretoria Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Tembisa with their wonderful songs and musical service came to support in their native Languages Amharic and Hadiya.
At the end of the celebration, Fr Nkosinathi Sibiya presented the Baptismal Certificate and a spiritual motivation speech was given by Evangelist Hailu to keep up their Catholic Faith in a foreign land. Three Nigerian Eucharistic Missionary Sisters also joined in the celebration.
Participants enjoyed Ethiopian traditional food and Drinks.
